Chris was
recruited to Qualcomm to help the Emerging Businesses scale and lay
the foundation for the future of the company. Qualcomm is the
leader in chips for mobile phones. There are 6 billion people
worldwide and mobile phone penetration is leveling off. There
are 50 billion machines that require monitoring in some form.
Where much of the future growth is going to come from is monitoring
and managing communication with smart machines.
At Qualcomm
Enterprise Services, Chris's team was able to implement a flexible
managed network services platform that could use the same MVNO
platform used for asset tracking to provide managed network
services, business operations support and mobile device diagnostics.
This enabled the implementation of the back end support for the
highly successful
Amazon Kindle device (shown in the figure below) as well as other
groundbreaking applications like CardioNet's
Mobile Cardiac Outpatient Telemetry™ (MCOT™)
service
for diagnosing clinically significant arrhythmia's 3x more
effectively.
